First Aid Awareness: Know What to Do Until Help Arrives
Whether it’s a scraped knee, a sprained ankle, or something more serious, having a basic understanding of first aid helps us respond quickly and calmly when injuries occur. Coaches and parents are often the first line of care during practices and games—being prepared makes all the difference.
We encourage everyone to review the fundamentals of first aid, so you feel confident handling common sports-related injuries and minor medical situations. A few minutes of preparation can help protect the well-being of our athletes.

Concussion Awareness: Protecting Our Young Athletes
Concussions are a common yet serious injury in youth sports, and knowing how to recognize and respond to them is essential.
We require all coaches to complete the CDC’s HEADS UP Concussion Training. This free, expert-led course helps coaches understand concussion signs, proper care, and prevention—arming them with the knowledge to keep players safe.
Parents, we encourage you to take this training too, so everyone is informed and ready to act when it matters most.
Background Checks: Every adult on the field has passed a nationally recognized background check—because our players deserve a safe space to grow and compete.
At Romeo Peaches Softball, the safety of our players and families is our highest priority. That’s why every coach, volunteer, and adult in a position of trust completes a comprehensive background screening through the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI)—a nationally trusted provider of youth sports background checks.

Why It Matters
This process helps us:
-
Reduce risk and promote player safety
-
Uphold the integrity of our program
-
Maintain a standard of care expected by our players, families, and community
Our approach aligns with national best practices in youth sports administration. If you have questions about how background checks are handled, or how we ensure privacy and fairness in the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
CPR Awareness: Preparedness Saves Lives
Many of our coaches are proudly CPR certified, bringing vital skills to our teams and helping keep athletes safe. Even if you’re already certified, it’s important for all coaches and parents to stay refreshed on basic CPR concepts and emergency response procedures.
Knowing how to act confidently in an emergency can make a critical difference before professional medical help arrives. We encourage everyone involved—whether certified or not—to review reliable CPR resources regularly.
