We’re the Romeo Peaches—a brand-new travel softball club with a fresh, player-first approach and a commitment to building something special from the ground up. As we gear up for our first season, we’ve been receiving many great questions from families interested in tryouts.
This blog post covers the most common things we’ve been asked—from what to expect at tryouts to how we form teams and what our season might look like. Whether you're new to travel softball or just new to the Peaches, we hope this helps you feel informed, excited, and ready to join us on the field!
❓ Q: What level team are the Romeo Peaches likely to be?
A: For our first season, the Peaches expect to compete at the C to B level. Our focus is on strong coaching, skill development, and creating a team culture where players can grow, gain confidence, and have fun.
If you’re currently an A-level player on a highly competitive, established club, this may not be the best fit — but if you're looking for a competitive team with a supportive vibe and meaningful playing time, the Peaches could be a great match.
❓ Q: How often do teams practice?
A:
August–October: About twice a week, focusing on skill development and team chemistry.
November–March: Reduced to once a week, with breaks around holidays and school vacations.
March–July: Back to twice weekly, with more game-focused sessions as tournaments begin.
Outdoor practices will be held in Romeo and Northern Macomb County, while indoor facilities will be located in Shelby Township.
❓ Q: How many games or tournaments will there be?
A: Most teams play in a local league during spring and fall for extra reps. In addition, expect around 1–2 tournaments per month, starting in the fall. We focus mostly on one-day events to help balance softball with family life.
❓ Q: How far will the Romeo Peaches travel for games and tournaments?
A: Most competition is local play, typically within Macomb, Oakland, and Lapeer Counties to keep travel manageable. If a team excels, we may elevate them to state or regional tournaments to provide greater opportunities and match their growth. We aim to balance competition, convenience, and development.
❓ Q: When does the Romeo Peaches season run?
A: The Peaches season is a full-year commitment, running from August through July. Players can expect consistent development, team-building, and competitive play across all seasons.
❓ Q: What are the team fees for the Romeo Peaches?
A: Team fees for the 2025–2026 season range from $1,450 to $1,650, depending on the age group. These fees cover uniforms, league and tournament entry, coaching, field rentals, and more. For full details, visit our Fees page.
❓ Q: How are Romeo Peaches teams formed?
A: Teams are formed through a collaborative process involving coaching staff, club leadership, and independent evaluators. This ensures fair, balanced, and competitive teams where every player has room to grow. While we do not accept friend requests, we do accommodate sibling requests to help families stay together.
❓ Q: Will I know if I make a team?
A: Yes! Some players will receive on-site offers at tryouts. Others will be contacted within 72 hours after tryouts end. Once an offer is made, a commitment and deposit are due within 24 hours to hold your spot.
❓ Q: What are the ground rules for being a Peach?
A: We’re excited you’re thinking about becoming part of the Peach family! Here are a few important ground rules that help us create a positive, team-first experience:
Players bring the effort. Whether you’re on the field or cheering from the dugout, every role counts. Show up ready, stay coachable, and support your teammates. We don’t do blame, drama, or gear-throwing — just shake it off and keep going.
Parents support the process. Be positive in the stands and let the coaches coach — no sideline instructions. Your calm and encouragement make a huge impact.
Communication has boundaries. Coaches won’t discuss playing time, positional placement, or team decisions during or immediately after games. That’s what the 24-hour rule is for. After that, we welcome respectful, scheduled conversations, and we love when players take the lead. Coaches are happy to talk about your athlete’s growth, but won’t compare players or justify decisions about others.
We’re a no-drama zone. Gossip, cliques, and negativity have no place here. We’re all about kindness, honesty, and protecting the strength of our team culture.
